My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Vera is the kind of book that you think will take you on a certain journey, but you end up on an emotional thrilling ride. I genuinely could not stop reading it. It leaves you longing for the next sentence, the next page, and the next chapter. By the end of the book you are glad that you read it. Vera is a great read for Christian fiction lovers, but it is not overly religious and predictable. It is for those who fell away from their first love and did not even know. Truly metaphorical. I love the intensity. As a nurse, I appreciate the accuracy of the medical situation the main character, Chara finds herself in. This book is worth re-reading and sharing. The review above is from Goodreads, but I wanted to share it here to remind all authors of something important:
We genuinely enjoy reading your books. We just sometimes forget to tell everyone else.
I recently received some encouraging feedback that reminded me to do for others what I hope others will do for me. It is easy to become focused only on your own books, your own reviews, your own projects, and your own next steps. But proactively telling people about books you love is one of the best forms of encouragement and support you can offer another writer.
It takes a few intentional moments to make a video, write a review, or publicly recommend someone else’s work. Meanwhile, that author may have poured months or years into creating it. They may have almost given up somewhere along the process.
Seeing reviews and hearing readers speak about your work is one of the greatest compliments an author can receive.
So if a book has spoken to you lately, take a few moments to tell someone. Leave a review. Share it online. Recommend it to a friend. Go back to the place where you purchased it and let the author know what it meant to you.
It means more than you probably realize to hear what readers think about the work we place into the world.
